Team Coordinator – Materials Production (Quarry & Quarry Pits)
Maranoa Regional Council, Roma QLD

  • Full-time (38 hours per week)

About the role
To coordinate the cost effective sourcing and supply construction materials and quarry products for Council works from the Roma Quarry and strategic locations across the region to minimise transportation costs and ensure compliance with legislative, legal, safety and environmental responsibilities.
 
To maintain quality relationships with internal and external statutory reporting and traditional owner agency stakeholders to ensure assets remain open and provide suitable material stocks to Council and commercial clients.
 
Key Selection Criteria
The skills and experience we’re looking for

  • Extensive experience in the supervision and delivery of a materials production program including monitoring progress of works and costs
  • Ability to undertake planning for key inputs to Council’s road construction projects including identification and access to water and gravel resources
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising worksites including work supervision and monitoring progress of works and costs
  • Ability to plan, cost and schedule works to meet agreed service delivery requirements, standards, budgets and timeframes
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work to achieve goals and meet deadlines, including dealing with competing demands and managing multiple projects and tasks
  • Good verbal communication and listening skills  and ability to provide a clear sense of direction and convey expectations to team members and contractors
  • Commitment to a team-based approach, with demonstrated ability to lead and work in a team environment to achieve Council’s goals and departmental work program projects and tasks
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepared clear and concise reports and provide well considered and informed recommendations
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills to prepare reports, maintain written records and perform mathematical calculations

 The qualifications you must have

  • A current C (car) Class Driver Licence
  • General Construction Induction (White) Card
  • Certificate IV in Surface Extraction Operations or similar qualification with extensive industry experience
  • Eligibility for appointment as a Site Senior Executive (SSE) as defined by the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999

Position Vacant - Experienced Quarry Team Leader

Western Quarries is a business based in Ararat. Part of a broader business group the quarry has quickly become a leading supplier of quality aggregates and crushed rocks throughout South Western, Western and Northern Vitoria.

The company has recently added a state of the art fixed crushing plant to maintain its quality of service and products for its clients. Due to the fast growth and expanding business needs, we are seeking an experienced Quarry Team Leader to assist the Quarry Manager on day to day operation as part our committed team. If you have experience and are keen to hit the ground running, then this is the position for you.

Duties:

  • Assisting Quarry Manager with day to day operations.
  • Organise & supervise Plant Operators to achieve safety, quality and production goals 
  • Operation of both the crushing & wetmix plants
  • Ability to positively influence and lead the team
  • Monitoring and checking of all plant operations
  • Operation of machinery for clean-up and maintenance
  • Maintenance and repair of equipment

POSITION VACANT - Design Draftsperson, Mobile Crushing & Screening

Precisionscreen are leaders in the design and manufacture of mobile screening, washing, crushing and recycling equipment. We are currently looking for a Design Draftsperson to join our engineering department located in Wacol.

This is a senior position within a small design team. The role is vital for the development of the company’s new product range to not only meet, but to exceed the customers’ expectations. The successful candidate will be involved in various design improvement projects and in the creation of technical engineering drawings.

In this role your duties will include:
  • Initiating and preparing "Design Concepts" and detailed plans in compliance with Australian Standards
  • Maintaining and updating correct and current information on existing drawings
  • Contributing to the design and drafting of engineering projects for construction, taking projects from concept to manufacture
  • Managing the documentation of production drawings & bill of materials (BOM)
  • Providing a high level of customer service in relation to engineering services to internal and external customers
  • Working alongside the MD on new R&D projects

Essential Criteria:
  • A degree in engineering or extensive experience in mechanical engineering
  • 5 years experience with AutoDesk Inventor
  • Experience with conveyors, screenboxes, quarrying equipment or similar industrial equipment
  • Previous product designs which will show the ability to work in creative and innovative manner
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and to maintain technical records
  • Experience in structural and mechanical design, hydraulic and electrical circuit design would be desirable
  • The ability to work to a high standard while still adhering to strict deadlines

  • Performing scheduled drill servicing across our varied drill rig fleet
  • Vehicle servicing which may include trucks and trailers.

Operations Manager-South QLD

Due to an internal promotion and expected growth we have a need to employ an Operations Manager based in Southern Queensland and also servicing NSW.

You will be reporting to the National Operations Manager. Your responsibilities will be for but not limited to, the following:

  • Ensuring the safety of themselves and others when handling or using explosives and their ingredients
  • The supervision of the driller, shotfirers, blast crew and maintenance staff under their direction.
  • Conducting and/or being part of risk assessments with relation to explosive, drilling and maintenance activities.
  • Conducting business development activities that succeed in placing the company in a greater financial position all while proactively growing the business unit with a strong customer focus.
  • Knowledge and experience of blast area designs and modern blast programs. 
  • Occasional assistance in blast loading activities
  • Ensure completion of blasting reports and explosive usage reconciliation
  • Arrange for the ordering and transport of explosives in compliance with the Australian Code For The Transport Explosives By Road And Rail.
  • Liaising with the Business Development Manager to ensure that quoting and tendering for new work is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Job costing and analysis of works undertaken.
  • Run Safety and tool box meeting with a strong OHS focus.
  • Reporting of any concern, incident or issues pertaining to explosive activities to the National Operation Manager, General Manager, HSC Manager, SSE or government authorities as legislation requires
  • To understand, comply and implement the Sequel-Impact Drill and Blast policies and procedures.
  • To understand that work may be required at more than one site, and travel will be required.
  • Budgeting and timely submission of monthly reports for board meetings.
  • Conduct regular staff reviews.
  • Work effectively with the Maintenance Supervisor and others to ensure rig fleet is available for current and future workloads.
  • Ensure all company information is kept private and confidential.
ESSENTIAL Skills and requirements include:
  • Must have management experience and a minimum of 5 years field experience in mining, quarry or civil construction environments
  • Exposure to a range of Sandvik Top Hammer Drill Rigs, including Pantera, Dpi, DP, DX and Ranger 800’s
  • A satisfactory Police and ASIO clearance issued within the past 2 years as required
  • Queensland Explosive License.
  • Construction Industry Card.
  • Australian Open Class drivers licence
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment medicals and Drug and Alcohol screen 
  • Flexibility to work to tight deadlines
  • Self-starter, well organised and stable
DESIRABLE skills include:
  • NSW Shot Firers licence is highly desired but not a prerequisite.

The roll is full time driving, performing local work, with the possibility of overnight operations and as part of our blast crew.

You will be reporting to the Vic & SA Operations Manager. Your responsibilities will be for but not limited to, the following:

  • Transporting of heavy loads i.e. moving drill rigs between various sites.
  • Working as part of a small blast crew team loading shots and general labouring activities

The role
We are currently seeking a full time Concrete & Aggregate Field Tester for our Narangba site in Queensland. This key role reports to the Laboratory Manager and you will undertake tasks in relation to sampling, testing and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Quality testing of concrete & raw materials
  • Maintain procedures and regulations in relation to sampling concrete & aggregates
  • Maintaining internal test frequencies
  • Maintaining Health & Safety and quality standards
  • Maintaining NATA accreditation
  • Communication with internal and external customers
  • Generally performing laboratory & field testing
What you will need to succeed
  • Commitment to safety, OH&S policies and procedures
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience within a construction, geo-technical or materials testing NATA accredited laboratory
  • A good communicator
