Overview
There is significant focus on electrical awareness in quarrying by state regulators. Quarry owners, managers and senior staff should understand their responsibilities and the relationship between legislation, standards, guidelines. The online workshop will provide an understanding of the basic electrical principles and how to manage risk relating to electrical installations.
Learning Objectives
The Electrical Awareness online workshop has been designed to provide participants with an understanding of basic electrical principles and the identification of electrical hazards, specifically covering:
- Relationship between legislation, standards, guidelines
- Competencies
- Supervision of electrical workers
- Contractor management
- Risk management relating to electrical installations
- Identification of electrical hazards
- Protective devices for electrical circuits
- Areas of high concern

Your Facilitator
Lionel Smith
Lionel has extensive experience as Inspector of Mines and is the current Chair of the Mine Electrical Safety Association. Having previously worked as Inspector of Mines (Electrical), Lionel has extensive experience in the area of electrical safety. He is an experienced facilitator and has delivered numerous courses and workshops on electrical awareness for the industry.
