Annual IQA-WA Branch Golf Day at Joondalup 17th November 2017

Winners – Allied Equipment Sales – Steven Sakich, John Symonds, Jaysen Taylor and Nigel Salter.

NAGA – Bernard Cecchele and Hugh Cope from Position Partners, totally chuffed to win the spades!

Let the Games Begin – Shotgun Start – 200 Players took to the field in high spirits and as per usual it was not all about the standard of play (for most) but about how much fun you have. This highlight of our IQA WA calendar once again hit the mark.

This year there was a lot going on around the course with the opportunity to win lots of prizes including longest drives, nearest the pin, straightest drive, Beat the Pro as well as 1st-5th places and Last place (NAGA).

The Winners – Allied Equipment Sales - Represented by Steven Sakich with John Symonds, Jaysen Taylor and Nigel Salter were obviously on fire on the day. Or maybe it was John Symonds who must have been out practicing since his retirement earlier this year. Finally John, after over 20 years of competing in this event, you get your name on the trophy! The winners finished with a gross score of 59 (13 under par) including 1 eagle, 11 birdies, 6 pars and not a bogey in sight.

In second place was our winner from the last 2 years, Trevor Bennett and his team from QMW (WA) just missing out on the trifecta, and in third place was Peter Della Bona’s WA Limestone team. The NAGA Award and now keenly sought after stainless steel spades sponsored by Drew Martin from Blast It Global went to Position Partners, represented by Bernard Cecchele, Daniel Skou, Mark McGurdy and Hugh Cope with a very impressive gross score of 82.

After 18 holes of golf, pre-dinner drinks and presentations, many of the dinner guests still had energy and kicked on till the end, enjoying catching up with industry friends and meeting new contacts.

Finally, thank you to our golf committee, Grant Menhennett and Stephen Elliott for their help behind the scenes, to Emma Richards from Position Partners for helping out on the registration desk and supplying hats for all of the players, to Orica for sponsoring the drinks carts and to Boral Quarries for sponsoring the dinner.

A complete directory of all the sponsors is on our website and we would like to thank each and every one of them for making our 2017 IQA WA Golf Day the success it was!
