Annual IQA-WA Branch Golf Day at Joondalup 18th November 2016

Let the Games Begin – Shotgun Start - 204 Players took to the field in high spirits and as per usual it was not all about the standard of play (for most) but about how much fun you have. This highlight of our IQA WA calendar once again hit the mark.

This year there was a lot going on around the course with the opportunity to win lots of prizes including longest drives, nearest the pin and straightest drive, as well as 1st-5th places and Last place (NAGA).

The Winners – QMW (WA) - Represented by Trevor Bennett, Tony Summerfeldt, Perry Maxwell and Bevan Maxwell were obviously on fire on the day – in fact it was almost a carbon copy of their triumph last year, with a gross score of 61 including 11 birdies, 7 pars and not a bogey in sight.

In second place was our interstate team from Sandvik, headed by John Miltos and in third place was James Murdoch’s Komatsu team. The NAGA Award and now keenly sought after stainless steel spades sponsored by Drew Martin from Blast It Global went to SITECH WA, represented by Shaun Martinz, Chris Harper, Piotr Lowenhoff and Dean Gilmore with a very impressive gross score of 84.

For the first time in the history of our golf day we had an albatross. This was achieved on Lake 4, a 433 metre par 5. 888 Crushing & Screening Equipment obviously invited the right clients as the 2 members of 888 (Henry Neville & Melissa Zadra) didn’t even touch the ball on this hole. Tony McKay drove 280m off the tee and Graeme Churcher must have pulled out his 6 iron and finished off the last 150 metres, straight down the hatch!! A very special trophy is being designed to commemorate this feat.

After 18 holes of golf, pre-dinner drinks and presentations, many of the dinner guests still had energy and kicked on till the end, enjoying catching up with industry friends and meeting new contacts.

Finally, thank you to our golf committee, Grant Menhennett and Stephen Elliott for their help behind the scenes and to HE-Parts International for sponsoring the drinks carts and Boral Quarries for sponsoring the dinner.

A complete directory of all the sponsors is on our website and we would like to thank each and every one of them for making our 2016 IQA WA Golf Day the success it was!
