Annual IQA-WA Branch Golf Day at Joondalup 23rd November 2018

Winners – Hanson – Damon Case, Simon Blow, Stefan Kelemko and Michael McCallion.

Best Dressed – Bruce Hardy, golf fashionista.

Let the Games Begin – Shotgun Start – 212 Players took to the field in high spirits and as per usual it was not all about the standard of play (for most) but about how much fun you have. This highlight of our IQA WA calendar once again hit the mark.

This year there was a lot going on around the course with the opportunity to win lots of prizes including longest drives, nearest the pin, straightest drive, Beat the Pro, as well as 1st-6th places and Last place (NAGA).  For the first time we also had a launch monitor on course, measuring club head and ball speed of every golfer teeing off Quarry 9 hole.  Our sponsors that ‘manned’ their holes also had plenty of prizes on offer with business card draws and RUD Chains introduced a chipping competition on their tee box which proved very popular and competitive.  We also had a pictorial quiz question on each tee box which tested everyone’s golf knowledge (and I think, maybe, their Google search abilities).

The Winners – Hanson finished with a gross score of 61 (net 58.625) including 1 eagle, 9 birdies, 7 pars and not a bogey in sight.

In second place was Darryl Burton and his team from WesTrac with a gross score of 63 (net 58.688) and in third place was the team from Brooks Hire. The NAGA Award and now keenly sought after stainless steel spades sponsored by Drew Martin from Blast It Global went to Lincom, represented by Rebecca Jenkinson, Craig Lorimer, Michael Harrington and Brad Neil with one of the lowest ever NAGA scores of 79.

One of the players could not be ignored, his fashion style surpassing all others on the field and awarding him the title of best dressed golfer for the day, congratulations Bruce Hardy from Hanson.

This year it was voted on by the sponsors that there would be no dinner, so instead, we hosted a 2 hour sundowner with presentations, and everyone was off and home in time for dinner.  We will be seeking feedback to see if this worked for everyone.

Finally, thank you to our golf committee, Grant Menhennett and Stephen Elliott for their help behind the scenes, to Royce Sallur for Emcee duties, Orica for sponsoring the drinks carts and Boral Quarries for sponsoring the sundowner.

A complete directory of all the sponsors is on our website and we would like to thank each and every one of them for making our 2018 IQA WA Golf Day the success it was!
