Why choose the IQA for Professional Development?

The Institute of Quarrying Australia's vision is "Thriving communities supported by a sustainable industry".  Our purpose is "Educating and connecting people engaged with the extractive and associated industries".

The IQA believes education and training is a life-long opportunity which should be viewed in the broadest terms, involving initial qualifications gained through vocational and/or tertiary education on the job training,  and ongoing professional development.

The IQA offers a range of professional development courses and resources for the extractive and associated industries. Our focus is on ensuring Quarry Managers, Quarry Supervisors, Operators, Support staff, Maintenance staff, Weighbridge Operators, Suppliers, and everyone in between has access to technical and non technical education.

We train the industry

The IQA has delivered corporate training and workforce development programs to numerous companies, quarry sites and teams across the industry including Boral, Hanson, Holcim, Delta Rent, Neilsen Group, Kingaroy Quarries, All Sands, Quarrico, Lima South Group, Wagners, Adbri, Barro Group, Harcoo Group and many more.

The IQA has developed a competency framework and has education content on key areas of the extractive industry. Our training programs cover technical and non-technical (soft skills) areas. The IQA continues to develop and deliver seminars, workshops, training and resources that are industry specific and designed to assist in meeting duty of care and competency requirements for statutory positions and the entire team.

Continuing Professional Development

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is important in the extractive and associate industries as it supports improvements in workplace safety, environmental management, community outcomes and business performance.

Whether you are an experienced Quarry Manager, Quarry Supervisor, Health and Safety Manager, HR Manager or Operator with years of experience in the industry, a new graduate, someone looking to advance their career or gain professional competencies is essential. The IQA is here to help you achieve your objectives.

Ongoing education ensures you keep pace with current standards and regulation, have opportunities for career progression, and can contribute to a safe work environment.

Delivery that’s right for you

The IQA has designed its courses to be delivered either face to face or virtually. We understand that releasing staff to travel can be difficult, so many of the IQA’s courses are scheduled via virtual learning. This way you get live interaction with other people, can ask questions and learn from other participants - without the time and expense of travel.

We have also developed full courses that can be delivered in separate modules (for example, those targeting supervisors). This means, you have the choice of completing the full course in one day or select the modules you require and do them virtually, spreading out the learning over time. This reduces the need for a staff member to be away from the site for a whole day and supports iterative learning.

Any of the courses that are listed as virtual learning can also be delivered face to face at your site and contextualised to meet your organisation's needs. If you would like to discuss or book corporate in-house training, please call 02 9484 0577 or email: [email protected]

The IQA also offers webinars that are delivered in real time by an experienced IQA facilitator. Each webinar runs for approximately one hour and are designed to give an overview of the topic. These webinars are scheduled as part of the IQA’s education calendar. Any topic(s) can also be scheduled for organisation or team by request.
