The
Northern NSW Sub-Branch committee hosted a great afternoon and evening event in
Port Macquarie in June. Members and guests enjoyed a site tour of the Adbri
Dunbogan Quarry & Grants Head Quarry. Dunbogan Quarry is a marine sand
dredging operation, and delegates were able to see the Dunbogan Platypus dredge
in action pumping the slurry through the processing plant producing a
high-quality sand. Up the road to Bonny Hills and to Grants Head Quarry and
delegates were able to take in a quarry pit that has supplied the Hastings with
road base for decades. A simple and cost-effective drill, blast, crush and
screen operation that is located 500m from the Pacific Ocean and the current
operating bench is at 26m under sea level.
Thank you to Logan and Cav at Adbri for hosting the delegates and
showcasing their sites.
The networking continued at the evening event with delegates
enjoying canapes and refreshments at Rydges in Port Macquarie. NNSW Sub-Branch
Chairperson, Chris Brown hosted the evening's formalities and presented an
interesting, technical presentation on Quarry Dredging. Thank you to the
sub-branch committee for organising another quality networking and educational
event. The NNSW sub-branch Annual General Meeting is being held online
22nd August and we hope you can join us in continuing to make the Northern NSW
Sub-Branch great in FY 25.
